Happy Fall GAN fans!
It was a busy Summer & will be an exciting Fall season for us as well.
We were fortunate to make a visit home to Bali last May-June to reconnect with family and friends. Pictured bellow you can see "Papa Oka" teaching "Gede Tristan" how to play the Jegog at our home, Yayasan Suar Agung in Negara, Jembrana, Bali. We hope you all will visit one day!
Pekak Jegog (the Grandfather of Jegog), or Bapak as we call him... is doing very well. He still has is spunky spirit, is performing often in Japan and Bali, and spending plenty of time with fellow artists and friends as seen in the picture bellow.
It's always hard to say goodbye, but our family is always so loving & supportive.
Upon our return we teamed up with Lawrence Manzo, who has graciously helped us move our Gamelan Jegog into his barn up in Felton. When rehearsals get started, we will let you know!
This last month, Gede Oka lead performances with Gamelan Anak Swarasanti at Indonesian Day in SF and at the beautiful
Land of the Medicine Buddha in Soquel.
Beginning next week, Gede Oka will officially start his first Quarter as a Master of Theater Arts student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Congrats Oka!!!! We are full of gratitude for all of the support, patience, and love we have received from all of you...our friends...our family.
Terima Kasih
We wish you all happiness & coziness this Fall
and look forward to sharing more adventures with you all soon.
Don't hesitate to drop us a line.
Keep Playing. Keep Dancing. Keep Dreaming.
Love & Light,
Gamelan Artha Negara
